Editing Patient Assignments

Complete the following steps to edit patient assignments:

  1. From the Assignment Manager menu, select Patient Assign. This opens the Patient Assign page with the Summary by Patient view active.
  2. By default, the page opens to the current date, the current shift, and the last profile you selected. If this information is acceptable, continue with step 3. To change this information:
    1. Enter a new date in the Date box or use the date menu. You can select any past date or a date up to 24 hours into the future.
    2. Select a profile from the menu.
    3. Select a shift partition from the menu.
    4. Click Go. The page refreshes to display the selected information.
  3. In the Assign section of the toolbar, click Patients. The page refreshes to display the Assign Patients view.

Remove a Caregiver from a Patient

  1. Select the caregiver's row in the Patient table.
  2. Click the red X at the end of the caregiver's row. You can remove multiple caregivers at once by selecting the caregiver's rows and clicking the red X on any one of the rows.
  3. A warning dialog opens with the message Are you sure you want to remove this caregiver? Click OK. This removes the caregiver from the Patient table. Assignment Manager also updates the following options based on the change:
    1. The patient's Care Hours
    2. The patient's Asgn Status
    3. The caregiver's Asgn Hrs (Assigned Hours), number of patients, and (if your organization uses the optional Outcomes-Driven Acuity application) the patients' average acuity.
    4. The caregiver's Unasgn Hrs (Unassigned Hours) or % Asgn (Percent Assigned), depending on your selected Patient Assign settings.
  4. Click Save.

Change a Caregiver's Role for a Patient

  1. Select the caregiver's row in the Patient table.
  2. Select a new role from the Role list.
  3. Click Save.

Change a Caregiver's Shift Start or End Times

  1. Select the caregiver's row in the Caregiver table.
  2. Enter a new time in the Start Time or End Time boxes or both.
  3. Click Save.

Change a Caregiver-Patient Assignment Start or End Times

  1. Select the caregiver's row in the Patient Table.
  2. Enter a new time in the Assignment Start time or End time boxes or both.
  3. Click Save.

How Editing Patient Assignments Affects Relief Assignments

Edits to assignments, caregiver start and end times, and caregiver to patient assignment times done in the Assign Patients view affect the validity of caregiver relief assignments saved in the Assign Relief view. Assignment Manager truncates any affected relief assignment as needed. For example, assume you assigned Karen Arn to a patient from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. You assign Pat Cornett to be Karen's lunch break relief from 12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Karen leaves at noon to deal with a family emergency, so that you change the end time for her patient assignment to 1200. Assignment Manager automatically deletes Pat's assignment as Karen's relief at 12:30.
